Tour Description

With an early morning pickup from your Northern Beaches (6:35 am) and Cairns CBD (7 am) accommodation, or at the Cairns’ Marlin Marina 'B' Finger at 7.20 am, you’ll hop aboard your 7.5 metre, 130hp four stroke Honda vessel and set sail for the fishing trip of a lifetime. As you sail along Trinity Inlet in the comfortable, yet built for speed ‘Kingfisher’, you can settle in knowing you’ll be totally comfortable, with full shade, cool drinks and even a toilet on board. The first thing you’ll do is drop a net in to catch your own live bait, such as prawns, herring and mullet. This will increase your chances of attracting the larger fish species within the area.

With the guidance of your friendly skipper – who has over 20 years’ angling experience – you’ll use the supplied high-quality rods and spinning reels to cast out your line. Then, it’s all about patience as you wait for the exciting-to-catch barramundi, fingermark, giant trevally, mangrove jack, queenfish, salmon and other species to latch on. If any of your catches are of legal size, you’ll have the chance to keep them – that is, after you’ve been taught how to clean them, before storing them in the cold storage on board.

While you’re on the hunt for the catch of the day, you’ll be able to admire the stunning views of Trinity Inlet, spotting a variety of amazing wildlife, such as estuarine crocodiles, turtles and a huge variety of river birds. This educational fishing experience will ensure you have an amazing day and leave with all the knowledge you’ll need to improve your chances of success next time you drop a line in.

At the end of your fishing expedition, you’ll be returned to Marlin Marina at about 1 pm and from there, you’ll need to make your own way back to your accommodation.
