Tour Description

Departing from either your inner city accommodation or from Pier 4, Barrack St Jetty, Perth at around 8:30 am, you’ll board the Star Flyte Express, the MV Sea Eagle Express or the Eagle Express and begin your day with a cruise along the beautiful Swan River. Heading towards the river’s mouth, you’ll see the scenery along the river banks - which offers some great photo opportunities – before your journey to Rottnest Island. Because the ferries have been specially designed to ensure a smooth ride across the strait to Rottnest Island, the trip over is a scenic delight.

When you disembark on the island, you’ll have some free time to explore all of the island’s most popular sights, such as the Museum, the Salt Store, Thompson Bay, the Basin and a few of Rottnest’s plethora of beaches and bays. You also have the option of adding bike hire to your booking in the booking form so you can explore from 2-wheels, but there is no barrier to exploring the island by foot either.

You’ll then return to the Main Jetty at 1:45 pm, where you’ll participate in a safety and technique briefing to prepare you for your snorkelling adventure. Next, don your snorkelling gear and dive into Rottnest’s spectacular reef for an underwater journey through this seriously amazing place. Besides some gorgeous colourful limestone coral, you’ll see species such as Silver Drummer fish, Scalyfin, Western Buffalo Bream, Western King Wrasse, Black-Spot Goatfish, Red lipped morwong, Footballer Sweep, Stripeys, Banded Sweep, Moon Wrasse, Scissortail Sergeant fish, Convict Surgeonfish, Dusky Morwongs, Wobbegong sharks and others!

Rottnest Island’s totally underrated snorkelling areas have superb visibility and the reef areas and shipwrecks are bursting with corals and sea life. Your snorkel tour will take you to some of the best spots, but even if you want to keep snorkelling from the beach during the rest of the day, there are handy designated snorkelling trails, which are marked out by underwater plaques that help you follow them. To further help with your Rottnest Island snorkelling experience, you can attain a snorkelling guide from the Visitor Information Centre. (Note: included Snorkel equipment only available on 90 minute cruise. If you wish to continue snorkelling, you may hire snorkel equipment for the day)

Afterwards, you will meet your ferry at the jetty and depart the island, arriving back in Perth at around 6:45 pm, where you’ll conclude your tour or be returned to your accommodation.
